I was right to be concerned since it has now been determined that certain types of bacteria can feed off of plastics and plastic related compounds. Other plastics (such as Polyvinyl chloride and Polystyrene) are known to leach into our foods and affect our health. The health risks alone are enough to convince anyone why making the switch from plastic to glass steamer is a better choice.
